6 | April & May | College News FACULTY ACCOLADES Tricia Burke published "‘It's a roller coaster of emotions!’: Investigating the paradoxes of childcare app use and work en- gagement" in the Journal of Applied Communication . The piece was co-authored with Stephanie Dailey and Kristen Farris . Ann Burnette completed her service as an officer of the South- ern States Communication Association (SSCA) at the annual convention in Norfolk, Virginia. Since 2021, she has served as SSCA 2nd Vice President, Vice President and Planner, President, and Immediate Past President. SSCA has over 600 members, hosts an annual convention for scholars, teachers, and practitioners of communication, and publishes the South- ern Communication Journal . Stephanie Dailey welcomed TXST alumni Kelli Ottmers to her Social Media in Organizations course to share her experi- ences leading Southwest Airlines' social media. [1] Elizabeth K. Eger published “‘Girl, it’s bad in here.’: Un- docuQueer Filipino encounters with intersectional organiza- tional violence in NBC’s Superstore” with TXST M.A. alumna, E.M. Pollard , in Women’s Studies in Communication . Elizabeth presented “Organizing community collaboration through qual- itative research methods: How a qualitative relational practice enriches researcher and stakeholder partnerships” at the Inter- national Qualitative Research in Management and Organiza- tion Conference in Albuquerque, NM. She also welcomed Wil- fredo Alvarez, Assistant Professor from the Metropolitan State University of Denver, to her Work, Identity, and Difference M.A. seminar virtually. Wilfredo discussed his book, Everyday Dirty Work: Invisibility, Communication, and Immigrant Labor . [2] Rebekah Fox presented “Lessons on lessons: A rhetorical anal- ysis of wildland fire lessons learned documents as groundwork toward a genre of effective transferable organizational lessons” to the International Crisis and Risk Communication Associa- tion Annual Conference at Clemson University. The paper was co-authored and presented with M.A. student Bailey Thrash- er .
