Faculty Accolades Steven Beebe and co-authors published the 8th edition of Interpersonal Communication: Relating to Others . He also published a book chapter entitled “Communication Skills for Consulting Excellence,” in Consulting That Matters: A Handbook for Scholars and Practitioners . Steven contributed another book chapter, “Building a Supportive and Effective Peer Tutoring Team,” in Communicating Advice: Peer Tutoring and Communication Practice . Steven and M.A. alum Seth Frei presented a Seminar for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services in January. Tricia Burke and co-authors published “Relational Sacrifices About Intimate Behavior and Relationship Quality for Expectant Cohabitors,” in the journal Marriage and Family Review . Tricia also published “Weight-Related Social Control and Relationship Quality: Accuracy and Bias Effects” in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships with co-author Chris Segrin. This article was also featured in the Relationship Matters podcast series. Tricia and co-author Dana Dinsmore (an M.A. alum) recently had an article entitled “Moving Away and Reaching Out: Young Adults Relational Maintenance and Psychosocial Well-being During the Transition to College” accepted for publication in the Journal of Family Communication . Tricia is also a featured speaker at a colloquium for the University of Kansas Department of Communication Studies about her research on family communication and mental health in February. Michael Burns will join NBC’s Today Show at the 2016 Rio Olympics to assist with production management and lead their team of college interns and production runners. Michael has previously worked at the Torino, Beijing and London Olympics in the same capacity. His team will serve the show in several capacities including: research, guest/athlete transportation, live broadcast needs, logistics and set up and tear down.
