4 Curious Incident of a Dog in Te Nighttime at ZACHTeatre in Austin 5 Te Wiz at Ford’s Teatre in Washington, DC featuring vocal coaching from Zachary Campion 6 Danny Lutman with other members of the Really Awesome Improv Show 18 | March | College News Sydney Smith (MFA – Design) was Assistant Lighting Designer for Curious Incident of a Dog in Te Nighttime at ZACHTeatre in Austin. [4] Te production was directed by Bruce Turk (MFA – Directing), with design work by Sydney Rhiannon Smith (MFA – Lighting Design), Alexander Stearns (MFA – Costume Design), Gary Tornsberry (MFA – Scenic Design) and Dawn Tompson (BFA – Technical Production with an emphasis in Sound Design). Lauren Ferebee (MFA – Dramatic Writing) was dramaturg for the production and Diamond Morgan (BFA – Performance and Production) stage managed it. Caitlin Turnage’s play Stone Pebbles Girls , which was recently produced as part of the Lab Teatre production series at Texas State, will have a reading at Wordsmyth Teatre Company’s new play reading series in Houston. Her play Little Perfect You is a fnalist in the Campfre Teatre Festival’s new play development program, Sparks, and will have staged reading at the theatre in Boise, Idaho in September. Caitlin, who is a second-year MFA student in Dramatic Writing, is this year’s Outstanding Graduate Student for the Department of Teatre and Dance. Audrey Webb (MFA – Dramatic Writing) is the 2017/18 Judith Barlow prize winner for her play Te Only Hills We’ve Ever Had . Te play will have a staged reading at the Cherry Lane Teatre in New York City on April 23rd. Twenty undergraduate and two graduate students from the Department of Teatre and Dance attended the annual USITT Conference & Stage Expo in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where they displayed design work, attended educational sessions with theatre professionals, and interviewed with graduate schools and professional employers in the entertainment industry. ALUMNI ACCOLADES In February, Rita Anderson (MA – Teatre History) was the subject of a cover story for Hill Country View , as well as being on an arts’ panel for Pouring Over Books, the annual fundraiser for the library. She also had three poems published with Te Blue Mountains Review for their “Southern experience” issue, and her one-act, Final Conversations was published internationally. In addition, Rita’s plays, Avalanche and Finders Keepers , were produced at Teatro Mundial in San Antonio in March. Joel Britt (BFA – Design & Technology) made his Broadway debut as Assistant Lighting Designer for Summer: Te Donna Summer Musical at the Lunt- Fontanne Teatre with Lighting Designer Howell Binkley. Oscar Cabrera (MFA – Acting) has been accepted into Te Public Teatre’s Emerging Writer Group. Zachary Campion (BFA – Performance and Production 2010) is vocal coaching a production of Te Wiz , which plays through May 12 at Ford’s Teatre in Washington, DC. [5] He just fnished dialect coaching the world premiere of Sovereignty at Arena Stage with artistic director Molly Smith. Sovereignty highlights the events that led to the removal of the Cherokee Nation from Oklahoma. Zach is a certifed teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework and works a day job as a communication specialist for Graduate Admissions at Marymount University in Arlington, VA. Scott Harris (MA - Playwriting) is the head of the Rye Neck High School Teatre Department in Mamaroneck, NY. He recently directed the musical Damn Yankees , marking his 8th production since joining the faculty at Rye Neck. Earlier this year he directed Noises Of and was musical director on Bye Bye Birdie at the Mead School in Stamford, CT. Alex Isaacs (BFA – Teatre) has accepted a job as the Assistant Technical Director/Shop Foreman at the University of Oklahoma. Danny Lutman (BFA – Teatre) is producer and casting director for Sand Blasters , which premiered March 11 on the Travel Channel. Te show features four world- class sand-sculpting teams who compete for prizes. In addition, his independent improv team is planning trips to festivals around the country. Danny is also a member of the Really Awesome Improv Show, a family-friendly group performing every Saturday at Second City Hollywood and of the Cousins who perform every Sunday at the Nerdist School Stage in LA. [6] #THERIVALS FEBRUARY 13-18, 2018 Te Department of Teatre and Dance presented Te Rivals , a play written by Richard Brinsely Sheridan, Tuesday, Feb. 13 through Sunday, Feb. 18 . Te play tells the story of Lydia Languish, who is determined to marry for love — despite the threat of losing her inheritance if she marries without her aunt’s permission. Te artistic team for Te Rivals , produced in the Harrison Teatre in February included: costume designer Stacey Johnson (MFA – Design), scenic designer Annalise V. Caudle (MFA – Design), lighting designer Miriah D. Borden (MFA – Design) and sound designer Hank Kersten (BFA – Technical Production).
