While diverse in scope, works in Now You See Me share a common thread: an urge to be seen and recognized through personal narratives put forth on one’s own terms—all set against the backdrop of a country that didn’t coin the phrase ‘Asian American’ until 1968, and a country that continues to overlook Asian Americans in the public sphere. Now You See Me pushes for the inclusion of each artist’s voice—alongside those of countless other Asian American and minority creatives—into the American canon.
