LETTER FROM THE DEAN DR. JOHN FLEMING Welcome to the October edition of College News . The ensuing samples of faculty, student, and alumni accolades exemplify the ever- increasing footprint of the impact exerted by the College of Fine Arts and Communication. We are more actively engaged with TEDx (pp. 6-7), work with the Special Olympics (p. 6), the United States Forest Service (providing safety support during the California wildfires, p.7), and earned grants from the Knight Foundation (p.9) and awards from national organizations (p.8). Artists are exhibiting their work across the country (pp. 2-3), performing in Colorado (pp. 10-11), as well as in South Korea and East Africa (pp. 14-15). National speakers have come to campus for public lectures and classroom interactions (p.13), and alumni have moved out into the profession, with 27 new Music teachers (p.15) and an increasing number of film and television performers and producers (p.17). These are in addition to the wide array of campus activities such as our sold-out run of A Chorus Line (p.16) and the forthcoming series of art exhibits (pp. 4-5). For all the items enclosed in these pages, as well as so many more, it is a great day to be a Bobcat!
