Claudia was invited to present her research titled “Bauhaus: 100 years later” at this year’s DEL conference. Omari Souza traveled to Belgium to present his research at the International Visual Literacy Association Conference held October 16-19. Omari was accepted into the Design Incubation three-day Writing Residency held October 25-27. His research papers, “Passive, Brutish, or Civil? Racist Motifs in Every Day Branding”, has been accepted into press, by MESSAGE 4: Graphic Communication Design Research , University of Plymouth Press. Jennifer Stob's remembrance of flmmaker Agnès Varda appears in the September 2019 issue of international contemporary art magazine, Texte zur Kunst . Jennifer has a chapter entitled "Female Material: Invisible Adversaries and the Intermedial" on the artwork and flmmaking of Austrian artist Valie Export in the recently published anthology, On Women's Films: Across Worlds and Generations (Bloomsbury, 2019). Barry Stone’s work will be featured in Knowledge in Images at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich from September 27 - March 8, 2020. STUDENT ACCOLADES M.F.A. student and G.T.A. Mikaela Buck and B.F.A. student Sam Stine were invited to present “How to start a campus studio” at this year’s DFA Summit at Northwestern University. Cross disciplinary students from Computer Science, McCoy College of Business and Communication Design (graduate student Stephanie Long and undergraduate student McKenna Strain ) were invited to present their panel “No books, no classes, no assignments: the future of cross-disciplinary learning” at this year’s DEL conference. M.F.A. student and G.T.A. Ti Nguyen was the summer intern at Design for America (DFA) at Northwestern University and co-chaired the DFA Summit 2019. M.F.A. students Ti Nguyen and Stephanie Long were invited to run their “Dessau Approach to Data Visualization” workshop at this year’s DEL conference. ts and Communication | 5 OCTOBER 14 – NOVEMBER 12 Every year, Texas State Galleries hosts an exhibition of works by alumni from the School of Art and Design at Texas State University. Tis year’s exhibition showcases art made by alumni who graduated with a concentration in Ceramics. Every Ware [ 5 - 6] is co-curated by Faculty Emerita Michel Conroy (pictured) and Assistant Professor Jennifer Ling Datchuk , with assistance from Alumnus and Lecturer Tom May . It features works by Lindsey Browning , Sawyer Hewitt , Gabo Martini , Jennifer Masley , Tom May , Georgia Ruiz Davis , Carol Schwartz , Jerry Solomon , Melody Tiemann , Leandra Urrutia , Nick Weddell , and Kyle White , as well as works by Michel Conroy and Jennifer Ling Datchuk . EVERY WARE : TXST GALLERIES College of Fine Ar M.F.A. students Dillon Sorensen and Leslie Harris were invited to present their Design Futures class research with faculty member Alvaro Soto at this year’s DEL conference. Omari Souza’s Tesis student Mikaela Tjarks Buck , presented fndings from her thesis research October 6th, at the Quinnipiac Colloquia in Connecticut. ALUMNI ACCOLADES Austen Villacis (Art History) was awarded an internship at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. SCHOOL ACCOLADES Te School of Art and Design received $36,420.53 in allocation from Alkek Library for 2019-2020.
