Linda Nenno Breining was given the Austin Critic's Award for Best Actress in a supporting role in a play for her portray- al of Violet Venable in Suddenly, Last Summer , produced by Filigree Theatre and directed by Elizabeth Newman. Aaron Brown was awarded Best Director and Best Play by the Houston press for the ’24-’25 theatre season for the play Topdog/Underdog at the 4th Wall Theatre in Houston. August 2025, Associate Kaysie Seitz Brown led a professional development presentation on Best Practices and Social Emo- tional Learning for Killeen ISD dance educators. In June 2025, Elizabeth (Betty) Buckley served as a cultural storyteller aboard ATLAS Ocean Voyages, where she lectured and presented her documentary feature film, The Stars at Night , during a sailing from London through the British Isles to Scotland. Elizabeth has been awarded Women in Film & Television – Austin’s 2025 Champion Award. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, the organization has an- nounced that this award will now be named in her honor. In attendance were over a dozen current and former Texas State students, including alumni and current faculty, Rich Aladin . This summer, Elizabeth Buckley and Susan Busa guided eleven students on The Birth of Cinema in France Education Abroad program, immersing them in the culture, history, and cinema of Paris and Lyon. [2] In January Kiira Schmidt Carper served as associate choreog- rapher at the Houston Grand Opera for their production of West Side Story which also featured two students from the Mu- sical Theatre department. In May she headed to Los Angeles as associate choreographer and casting consultant to cast the LA Opera production of West Side Story which is currently in production. Both productions were cast in collaboration with renowned NYC casting office, TRC Casting. Sachin Dheeraj's upcoming feature film Mouna Tharangam (A Silent Wave) was selected to participate in the inaugural CineV-IFFLA market organized by the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles 2025 as part of their IFFLA Connect program. Designed as a nexus for collaboration, IFFLA Connect links promising projects with key professionals, offering crucial support in financing, production, casting, and beyond. The inaugural lineup of IFFLA Connect features both emerging voices and acclaimed filmmakers, helming 10 exciting projects in development. [3] Carlos Estrada was cinematographer on The Good Boy which took home an audience award at Cine Las Americas and won Best Narrative Short at CineFestival at the end of May. He was cinematographer of Rooftop Lempicka which won Best Story at Austin Asian American Film Festival in June before continuing onto multiple screenings at international festivals throughout the summer. He wrapped production on a new film, Loretta , in June. He was cinematographer on The Night We Met which had its world premiere at Guanajuato Inter- national Film Festival in July and will screen next at New Orleans Film Festival. Carlos was also the cinematographer of The Third Bedroom which won best scifi/fantasy short at ATX Short Film Showcase Best of the Year Showcase in August. Kevin Gates led a workshop on Shakespeare's language for Central Texas Theatre Academy's Shakespeare on the River program for 12 -18 year old students, which culminated in a full-length production of Much Ado About Nothing . • Kevin Gates played the Narrator in the City of Buda's summer musical, Sondheim's Into The Woods in July. This summer, Brandon Gonzalez collaborated and per- formed with Katarzyna Brzezińska at KunstKartell in Berlin, Germany. He also participated and performed at the California Contact Improvisation Teacher Exchange at Finnish Hall in Berkeley, California. In addition, he produced and taught Dance and Dive, a Contact Improvi- sation workshop at Texas State. Spencer Hanson was in Waitress at the West Virginia Public Theatre
