Reviews and interviews have been published by Slate , Huffington Post , Glasstire , Texas Public Radio , San Antonio Express News , The Current , San Antonio Magazine , and the Austin American- Statesman . He spent five days in Mexico City on an exploratory trip for a new study abroad program within the School of Art and Design. Mark and collaborator Ryan Sprott led a one-day workshop at the Houston Center for Photography as part of an ongoing project exploring Capital Punishment in Texas. Mark also has work featured in the exhibition, Not My Family Values , curated by Becky Senf, Curator at the Phoenix Art Museum. Randall Reid , Caprice Pierucci and David Hefner participated in Davis Gallery’s summer show, There’s a Summer Place Where We Can Go , June 13-August 8. Claudia Roeschmann presented “Condensed for fast prototyping, Extended to harvest the passion” at TypeCon 2015 in Denver, CO, in August. Jennifer Stob’s article, “Détournement as optic: Debord, derisory documents and the aerial view” was published in Philosophy of Photography, Volume 5 , Number 1, April 2014, pp. 19-34. Her interview with experimental filmmaker Jodie Mack was published as part of the “Back and Forth” series in the hybrid online/print publication, Incite: Journal of Experimental Media . The interview can be found at: http://incite-online.net/mack.html Barry Stone participated in group shows at the Center for Photography at Woodstock in New York, June 27-September 7 ( Mine.Yours.Ours ) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, DC, May 28-August 15 ( Technovisual: Art in the Age of Code ). He also had a solo show at GAA Gallery in Cape Cod, July 22-August 9 ( The World is Round From Here ). Maia Wright’s book design of Frederick Law Olmsted: Plans and Views of Public Parks , recently published by Johns Hopkins University Press, was awarded first place in the 2015 New York Book Show. The book also tied for first place in its category in the 30th Annual Washington Publishers Book Design Awards, alongside books from the Smithsonian and National Geographic. Maia gave an invited presentation in May 2015 at Brown University as part of the Lost Museums Symposium, a project initiated by Mark Dion and co-sponsored by the Rhode Island School of Design. Maia was selected to participate in this year’s SOMA Summer program, an intensive eight-week residency in Mexico City for international artists, designers, curators, critics, and art historians, designed to promote creative work and open dialogue. The residency will culminate in a public exhibition of new work on August 26. Alumni Accolades Photography graduate Michael Asbill was accepted to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Studio Art MFA program, where he will begin classes this month. Former MFA student Patrick Gosnell started his tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Austin Peay State University in August. Student Accolades ComDes undergrad student Ramla Ali will be published in Communication Arts magazine with her Veldhuisen Cheese Brand Identity created in Jeff Davis’ class. The Designs on ELearning 2014 materials designed by Patrick Gosnell and Cesar Rivera won an award of merit in the Graphis Design Annual 2016 competition.
